SILVER LAKE

She’s a song upon a sunset breeze

She’s an echo through the canyon trees

A glimmer on a silver lake

More than any heart can take

Pulling focus as she nears

A soul dusty beyond its years

Leather, sage and cattlebones

Kept me far away from home

But she only ends up in my bed

When there’s nowhere else to lay her head

She’s a message sent and no reply

Leaving you to wonder why

So I walk along Hyperion

Replaying everything I’ve done

I always thought we’d have our time

I always thought that you’d be mine

It’s sad to watch a songbird leave

But I want her to be lost & free

She belongs up in the apogee

Maybe she’ll come back to me

Maybe she’ll come back to me

She’s a song upon a sunset breeze

She’s an echo through the canyon trees

A glimmer on a silver lake

More than any heart can take
