CANTEEN
Tires melting on the white concrete
Bodies baking in the midday heat
The grass underneath our feet, it’s all dyin’
But it’s clear to the stars above
And it’s clear you’re the one I love
Some days that’s not enough — boy, I’m tryin’
What we need right now is a month of rain
To bring it back to life again, but
I can’t open up the sky
Flood the rivers and ravines
But whenever you run dry
Take a drink from my canteen
Now, it’s something that we can’t ignore
Like the rings around the reservoirs
It isn’t like it was before, there’s no denyin’
So let’s find a cool spot to lay
I’ll be there supplyin’ shade
And we’ll do a little dance for rain in the dandelions
All we need right now is a month of rain
To bring us back to life again, but
I can’t open up the sky
Flood the rivers and ravines
But whenever you run dry
Take a drink from my canteen
I can’t open up the sky
Flood the rivers and ravines
But whenever you run dry
Take a drink from my canteen
